The definition of Vegan according to the Vegan Society founded by Donald Watson in 1944.

A way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing and any other purpose.”

There are two types of Vegans:

  1. The Dietary Vegan, which are individuals who have adopted the term vegan on a primarily health oriented dietary change. They have realized the benefits to the human body by adhering to the herbivorous origin of our species.
  2. The Ethical Vegan, which consists of individuals who have decided to take a stand on the compassion argument and take action to eradicate the abuse and consumption of animals and animal byproducts. Ethical vegans additionally do not purchase nor wear leather, or wool, in general they will not purchase products from companies that test on animals or use animal products in their manufacturing, i.e. bone char, an animal product used to whiten sugar.

While there are marked differences in the reasons for an individual to become Vegan the end result is the same fewer animals are killed each year due to their influence on the animal agriculture, the individual vegan experiences great health benefits, and the Earth begins to heal.

Each person to become Vegan saves approximately 189 animals per year.
