Why #GoVegan?

Why do people continue to eat meat?

  1. Habit: It’s something they’ve always done.
  2. Cultural Conditioning: The insistent belief, that despite all data to the contrary, animal flesh is needed to sustain life and that humans are carnivores.
  3. Media Bias: Favoring Carnism - virtually everywhere you look, no matter what TV station, or media outlet you find an exhausting amount of propaganda supporting the industry.
  4. Educational Bias: A system that favors the meat and dairy industry due to educational funding and marketing targeted at our nation's children, convincing parents, educators and subsequent generations that meat and dairy are necessary for our continued health and longevity.
  5. Resistance to Change: Unless it’s comfortable and comes naturally people will continue to do what they have always done because they are content with the results they have always had.
  6. Convenience: People in general do not want to spend a lot of time preparing; we want to spend time eating.
  7. Inability to overcome Cognitive Dissonance: The state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.
  8. Stubbornness: Resistance to change and the reality that many people's conscience is overpowered by their taste-buds.
  9. Lack of public awareness: Little media coverage on the horrors of the meat and dairy industry.
  10. Outmoded belief that keeps people from making the change:
    • I don't know what to eat.
    • It's to hard.
    • I don't like cooking.
    • It will take to much time.
    • I need meat for my blood type.
    • Where will I get my protein.
    • It is what they are here for.
    • God gave us "dominion" over the animals.
    • I love animals, but I love to eat them too.
You control the fate of the planet with what you put in your own body.

Realize that Veganism is NOT a diet. It is a way of life. It goes beyond what you put in your body to what you put on it and how you interact with society.

There are many benefits to both the individual and the planet in choosing a compassionate Vegan lifestyle. Not to mention it's really good for the animals.
